The release date for the Super Smash Bros. Pyra and Mythra Amiibo set has arrived

Nintendo has announced the release date for the Pyra and Mythra amiibo double pack for fans of Super Smash Bros. and Xenoblade Chronicles.

Nintendo has announced the release date for the Super Smash Bros. Pyra and Mythra amiibo double set. The characters were initially introduced as fighters in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Challenger Pack 9 DLC, where each character functions as a fighter.

Amiibo was launched by Nintendo in November 2014 as a lifetime gaming platform that allows fans to purchase collectible figures or cards of their favorite Nintendo characters.

Amiibo can provide additional costumes or weapons when scanned into a game like Smash Bros., unlock an extra playable character, and similar goodies. Some amiibos also allow you to save certain game data, such as the specifications of a customized character. Both Pyra and Mythra are personalities of the same Legendary Blade, who can switch places at will, and were first introduced in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and now Nintendo is giving fans the chance to own their likenesses individually.

The release date of the amiibo double pack is July 21st, it was announced on Twitter. This means that the characters will be able to be added to Super Smash Bros. even if the player does not have the Challenger Pack 9 DLC. Additionally, each amiibo in the set allows players to unlock a unique Aegis Sword weapon skin. This will be available to those who play as the Swordfighter class in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. However, these skins are not available yet. Nintendo will release a patch in the future that will include certain conditions that players must meet in order to use weapon skins in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. As of now, Nintendo has not specified when exactly the patch will be released.

After the announcement, while players expressed their excitement in the comments, they also pointed out that there is still one Super Smash Bros. character that hasn't received their own amiibo. During the announcement, many comments asked when Sora would get his amiibo, as this has been a point of contention for Super Smash Bros. fans for some time. It has sparked a lot of speculation, with fans wondering if Sora will ever get an amiibo. There are theories that if Sephiroth and Kazuya's amiibo are released in January and Pyra and Mythra are released in July, players will hopefully see the release of Sora's amiibo in early 2024.

It is difficult to say whether the speculations will become reality. Although fans would probably find it very strange that only Sora is without an amiibo in Super Smash Bros.

In the meantime, players can't wait for Pyra and Mythra to add to their collection.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
